A Healthy Work From Home Regimen

A healthy work from home regimen is vital to your success when you have a home based business.  You have to establish healthy habits that ensure you are at your best to succeed.  Healthy? What do you mean?  Do you mean good habits?  Eating healthy food? Healthy exercise-wise?  What do you mean?  Well, yes to all of it…

Mompreneurs, entrepreneurs, work-at-home professionals, students…. we all are incredibly busy people with little time to spare.  We also find ourselves constantly reevaluating what we’re doing to ensure our own success.  But when do we ever find the time?  Well, it’s your health and your success on the line, so you have to make time.

First of all, you are about to hear some advice from someone who is far from the epitome of health.  There was a time in life when all I focused on was work, success, the people around me and did everything possible to neglect my own health.  Well, that was until the doctor told me I needed to make some major changes because I was quickly killing myself with my unhealthy habits.  So I set out to make some changes!  And guess what, as I become more healthy and establish healthy habits, I find my business success exploding!  I now have so much more energy and confidence – so of course the success is going to happen.  I’ll share some of my daily routine…

Exercise

Get moving!  If you work from home you can so easily fall into the trap of sitting at the computer for most of your day like I do.  Back in July I started doing “Crossfit” three days a week. Each week I try to go at least 3 days to Crossfit Middle Tennessee and then I go to the Rec Center once or twice to get in additional cardio.  Getting started was so hard because it hurt like crazy from all of the soreness.  At this point, I look forward to the workouts – I would even go so far to say my body craves them now.  You’ve got to commit to a healthy lifestyle if you want to succeed and have the best home based business possible!

Eating Well

In the past, I was the king of fast food.  Now, it almost repulses me.  Almost.  Some of it…  The crappy unhealthy junk I was putting in my body was horrible and only dragging down my energy, my health and my success.  Trust me, I’m far from a totally healthy eater now, but I am putting much more healthy food in my system on any given day.  I give myself a surge of energy and nutrition on a daily basis now by having a smoothie from Shakeology.  My favorite Shakeology recipe:

Chocolate Shakeology Powder
1 Large Tablespoon Peanut Butter
1 teaspoon Honey
1 Banana
8oz Fat Free Milk
8 ice cubes
 
Blend until smooth.

These shakes are so incredibly healthy, filling, and do a great job of providing an added boost of energy.  And I really do like the taste of this recipe!

I’ve also replaced a few meals a week by going to Whole Foods and eating from their Hot Food Bar or Salad Bar.  Their all organic food is spoiling me though – the taste is so rich and vibrant and I truly can feel a difference in how I feel after.  And because I can tell a difference, when I do eat at other restaurants I find myself making much healthier choices.

Drink Lots of Water!  One healthy habit I have had since November 15, 2005 is only drinking water.  You’ve got to stay hydrated!  And water is the best possible drink you can have…so that’s all I drink.

Encourage & Inspire

Not only do you have to keep your body energized properly, you have to keep your mind inspired as well.  For me, there are a variety of Podcasts that I listen to which inspire me both Spiritually and Inspiration-ally.  It’s like an energy boost to the soul.  Find something that inspires you and make sure you are getting a heavy dosage of inspiration on a daily basis.  You don’t feed yourself only once a week, so don’t feed your mind and soul only once a week.  Also look for ways on a daily basis to encourage and inspire others.

When you work from home, you have to be dedicated to taking care of yourself and establish healthy habits.  Success always comes on the heels of good habits, whether those habits are health related or business related.  Set in place habits that will lead to overall success in your business and in your health.

    Great post! I love grabbing a meal from Whole Foods, you’re right…the body feels good when fed good. Sitting behind the computer for hours on end can cause all sorts of problems most of which can be avoided by balancing exercise and stretching, good for you for acting on this and spreading the word! Such an encouraging post my friend!
